What an important week it has been for CVE and R&R in Albania!

Following a comprehensive media tour in Tirana and strategic meetings with high-level decision-makers, the Counselling Line for Women and Girls, its partner and donor Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund, the CVE Albania, and the Albanian government jointly launched the National Referral Mechanism for CVE and Rehabilitation and Reintegration (R&R) this Thursday.

This initiative follows the Prime Minister’s directive to establish 12 regional committees on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE), each headed by a prefect, with strong leadership and support from the Ministry of Interior. The CVE Center, in collaboration with the CLWG, successfully established these committees across all regions of Albania.

The launch event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Interior, Mr. Taulant Balla, Executive Director of GCERF, Dr. Khalid Hosser, CVE Center Director, Mr. Lejdi Dervishi, the US State Department, 12 prefects, international donors, local partner organizations, and national institutional actors. This milestone event underscores the significant progress and collective commitment towards addressing CVE and R&R in Albania.

Looking ahead, the focus will shift to extensive capacity-building for regional institutions to effectively manage cases involving at-risk individuals and returnees at the local level, alongside community awareness-raising initiatives. The dedication and collaboration of all involved parties are crucial to advancing this process.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this significant endeavor!
